Tears on my Keyboard

My Dad is 92 years old and has been in a nursing home for 6 years. He has received wonderful care, and has been content. All the staff loves him, because he had such a good demeanor. Yesterday, I had to put him in Hospice, because of end stage Dementia. He has been going down hill gradually, but in the last three weeks, there has been a drastic decline.  He is no longer eating or talking and his body is shutting down. They will be giving him comfort care. Now, our whole vacation is up in the air.  Hospice will be doing a thorough evaluation, and then we will make our decision about our vacation.

Please say a prayer for my Dad and our family.

  5. Oh, Becky... I have tears on my keyboard too. Prayers are flying on a wing from San Diego and will hopefully provide a bit of comfort. We are dealing with a similar issue with my MIL, though not so advanced. I understand....
You and your family will remain in our thoughts and prayers...

  8. Oh, Becky-I wish I was nearer to you so I could give you a hug of comfort and support. I am so sorry about your sweet dad; although it's good to know that Hospice is such a good place where he gets the proper care he needs.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of your difficult days. It's never easy to say Good Bye!

  9. Becky, I went through this with dad first then mom. There is never ever an old age to be ready to give up a parent. Life is so precious and filled with what we are from there. My heart is heavy for your situation, no matter what you do you will have to be able to live with any decisions. You will torture yourself afterwards like I did if you didn't stay his every last waking moment. Had I known mom was not going to make it through the night when she was in the nursing home and they told me that I would have stayed all night and held her hand... I wish I had I could have just known. It would have made all the difference. I left at 7pm she passed away the next morning... no way to know. I can only say one thing to you ....go with your heart. Dont second guess anything, you never know how long anyone has, but do what you feel is best and you can live with after... hope that helps alittle .... will be praying for that answer to come to you and your family to stay strong through this emotional time... god bless you and him... prayers are with you.... 1. Claudia,
You are such a dear blogging friend and I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. He is sleeping all of the time now, and not talking. We are just going day by Day, at this point. We are postponing our vacation, because I wouldn't have a clear mind. I will keep you posted as to how the situation goes.

      Thank you for everything!
